This is short documentary about the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) and how it formed 20 years ago. Through archival footage, photos and interviews with founding members, the video examines the historical backdrop for forming the first national organization established for and by Asian Pacific American trade unionists. Founding members reflect on challenges they faced during APALA's beginning days from the mainstream labor institutions, as well as commemorate other workers of color who paved the way for a more inclusive labor movement. In the last 20 years, the organization has grown to be a strong voice for APAs in the workplace and a leading educator for young APA activists. (Ja-Rei Wang)
