Discussions about Green Economy often ignore the Social - this two minute "taster" video considers this issue. This video is based on a longer, 10 minute video "Social Policies for Sustainable Development" and is the third of six in the series "Bringing the Social to Rio+20". To reduce poverty, social policy cannot be separated from efforts to create structural change, and should not be separated from economic and environmental policy. This video highlights the need for social policy to move beyond social protection and compensation towards a more "transformative" role in supporting sustainable development. This video is part of the UNRISD project "Social Dimensions of Green Economy and Sustainable Development" - http://www.unrisd.org/greeneconomy Footage is based on recordings and interviews from the UNRISD conference "Green Economy and Sustainable Development: Bringing back the Social Dimension" (2011).
