In 2011, Jordan adopted the National Framework to Combat Child Labour which through coordinated efforts is tackling the problem of child labour in the Kingdom. The ILO is providing technical support to Government, social partners and civil society on the practical implementation of the National Framework as part of the US-Department of Labor funded project "Moving Towards a Child Labour Free Jordan." Nabeel, a former child labourer from Al-Ruseifeh, Zarqa Governorate, features in a new video - produced by the ILO - depicting the human face of the potentially positive effect of the National Framework on children like him. Nevertheless, although Nabeel's case gives some hope for the future of Jordan's child labourers, it is important that this optimism is tempered by reality. (ILOTV)
